MusicFest 2026

Resonance & Romance

Sunday, June 28, 2026 · 6:00 PM · Mai Home (private residence)

A celebration of lyricism and rhythmic diversity.

The opening concert of MusicFest 2026, “Resonance & Romance” explores the rich emotional spectrum of chamber music, where intimate expression and vibrant dialogue meet across centuries — energized by the addition of percussion, adding color, pulse, and dramatic contrast to the program. This concert weaves together the lyricism and structural elegance of Mendelssohn, the deep warmth and expressive intensity of Brahms, and the shimmering, atmospheric sound world of Debussy, revealing romance as tenderness, yearning, and emotional depth.

Contemporary voices Jessie Montgomery and Jessica Meyer expand this tradition with music that embraces rhythm as a driving expressive force. With percussion at the heart of the ensemble, their works bring heightened resonance, visceral energy, and a physical sense of motion, blurring the lines between melody, texture, and rhythm.

Across eras and styles, Resonance & Romance becomes a conversation between past and present — where strings, piano, and percussion together amplify emotion, ignite contrast, and invite listeners into a vivid, immersive concert experience.

Advance Tickets: Adults $65, Students $25. Tickets at the door: Adults $70, Students $30. Tickets include a themed reception after the concert.
